Building on the immense popularity of the D4Ȭ the DM5Ƞ18 bit High Sample Rate Drum Module offers enhanced performance features and an excellent selection of drum, percussion, and special effect samples. The DM5 puts over 540 all new and classic Alesis studio drum sounds into a single rack space, many recorded in true stereo and with ambient effects. Whether you're looking for a MIDI controlled percussion module, a drum replacement tool for mixing, or the ultimate device for use with electronic drum pads, the DM5 will satisfy even the most discerning connoisseur of percussion. Feature: The unit has a lot of programmable features for each trigger input and sound. I had virtually no cross-talk or sensitivity problems and the v-curve set to 1 had excellent feel response. No grooves to play along with, or anything. Just sounds.
Quality: Lots of plastic, I'm used to metal rack-mount devices. The spin-knob doesn't track 100%, it likes to skip numbers.
Value: Having it to do over again, I'd get the Roland TD-3 instead.
Desirability: The rack-mount chasis is much nicer than the Roland tablet style.
Sound: The drum sounds aren't the best. There's not a large library of sounds to choose from either. With some work you could build maybe one good kit out of all the sounds available.
Support: I rate this a 10, since I never needed them.
